I like this composition and b&w selection, lovely contrast dark-light.

Love this one — the repetition of all the shapes. Such a peaceful looking grove!

Eeeek! Snow! In my mind’s eye I see these trees lifting their branches to keep their leaves out of the white stuff, all the while screaming, “Eeeek! Snow!” (Maybe I’ve watched Lord of the Rings one too many times.)

First of all, I really like this shot. I like the extreme white all the way down to jet black in areas. I like the shapes of knarly trees like this, they have such character. The snow is a strange twist, was this from Colorado as well?

As for the leaves that someone mentioned, and I know next to nothing about trees, but I DO know that some types of oak trees, which these look like, keep leaves through the winter and lose them in the spring. The live oak we had in Louisiana in the front yard of the house I grew up in was like that. A huge stately oak that shed it’s leaves for a bit in spring, not fall.

love the light and shadow feel but in places like the trnks i feel that the textures are too sharp and a bit too dark and so the contrast there is a bit too sharp…

Beautiful shot. This reminds me of something out of a Robert Frost poem, no pun intended. The B&W works really well here.

great shot - at first i thought it was a sunnysummer scene and then you look down and see snow! frightening stuff - oh, roll on summer!

Snow??? No not snow! Please not snow!

Sorry, I am not looking forward to snow. Where I live when it snows all reason goes out the window and people, especially drivers, lose their minds. The prediction of even a few inches of snow causes people to react almost as if armageddon is coming. The stores get mobbed and people stock up for what seems like a 6 weeks. Mind you we are subburbia so stores are walking distance and the roads are plowed constantly so even if you had a 20+ inch storm you’d likely be able to get out within a day or two at worst.

It’s interesting, it looks like the leaves are still on the trees, or is that the snow sticking to the branches. Lovely shot.
